Power consumption:
Condat has signed an agreement with ELYO Midi-Océan, a company belonging to the SUEZ Group that has invested more than 50 million euros in the construction of a cogeneration facility (simultaneously producing both electrical and thermal energy). This highly efficient facility located on the Condat site and with 85 MW electrical and 170 MW thermal power ratings enables power consumption to be cut by 35% by comparison with conventional techniques.
The steam produced is used by Condat for its machines. All the electricity is sold to the French Electricity Board (EDF).
Waste recycling
By a variety of means, Condat is able to recover 95.42% of its industrial waste other than papermaking by-products (sludge). | | | |
Paper sludge, which is rich in minerals, cellulose fibres and organic materials can however be fully reused for agricultural purposes. It is excellent for re-establishing the pH balance of acid soils and its cellulose fibre content makes the soil less irrigation-dependent by enabling it to retain some of its humidity.
